well.. ähm no special basis in particular - basic construction drawing and tryin to space the proportions in a realistic way and not to distort the drawing to one side .. what happens too often lately ..dunno why..and hm so .. I don't think this will be shaded or finished anyhow.

I see, I see. Hmm.. but how can you distort drawing by keeping right proportions?well, I should say, as my tutor used to say, don't abandon the picture, even draw new version on previous, it gives some extra effects to it.. plus you learn by trying ;) but.. I know how hard it is to motivate yourself :/ and anyway, it's your choice to make :) (in which I try to interfere, muahaha)

On what basis are you practising on? I mean is it like imagination, or is it based on something like a photo, or on some anatomy rules, like from a book, or are you just guessing (following intuition) the way face should be looking? I like it anyway, waiting for final resoult ;) I like the bird's head also but seems a bit cartoonish at the time, but I believe proper shading will make it fit to the rest! :)
